They actually lease the home from you for a designated period of time. What a great way to help you make your mortgage payments while you are not living in the home, or help with the living expenses of your away location!

With the active Fort Huachuca Military Base here, there are many service men, women and families who are here for short periods of time, often only several month, and need temporary housing for that time; thus the name TDY (temporary duty) housing. There are also many contractors, instructors, special project managers, new construction and development managers that need short term housing. Yes, there are extended stay hotels, but they are still hotels, and many staying here for even a short period of time, would prefer a more home like environment.

One of the areas of housing needs that are not being met, that we have personally experienced, are home buyers and home sellers. There are home sellers that are waiting for their new home to be ready, and in the meantime sell and close on their exiting home, leaving a gap of time and need for temporary housing. We work with many home buyers, relocating to this area, that arrive with the intent to purchase as they do not want to pay long term rent, and have a difficult time finding a short term rent/lease situation while they locate and close sale on their new home.
